SHIPWRECK Book by Capt. Dan Berg
WRECK
VALLEY III
By Capt. Dan Berg
The most comprehensive, accurate, illustrated
collection of information, photographs, sketches
and stories ever written about the
shipwrecks
that lie off Long Island, New
York and New Jersey.
Soft cover, 8x10", 188 pages
printed in full color. $39.95 +P&H
The original Wreck Valley book was
published back in 1986. At the time it was not
only the first but the only book for area divers
that detailed local shipwreck history and dive
conditions.
Capt. Dan's 2nd edition was printed in 1990 and
became the most popular of his shipwreck
publications.
Wreck Valley III is a
completely new update, expanded and enhanced
edition of the
Wreck Valley books. Wreck Valley's
3rd edition covers the history,
legend, present
condition, aquatic life, and pertinent dive
information on over 140 shipwrecks.
This text includes over 550 illustrations,
comprised of over 400 color photographs, 111
black and white historical photographs, 35
sketches, 20 side scan sonar images and nine
3D underwater shipwreck illustrations.
Capt. Dan completely changed the books format
and design to accommodate all of the research
and images collected in 30 years of local
shipwreck diving. The collection of historical
photographs alone would take years of
archive
research to locate and would cost a small
fortune
if purchased separately. Many of these rare
images have never before been published.
Wreck Valley III
includes a GPS list of accurate artificial reef
and shipwreck locations. Divers, fisherman,
marine historians, armchair sailors or anyone
with a general interest in history, diving or
the sea will surely find this book informative,
fascinating, and the perfect addition to their
library.

This is a MAJOR revision from the 2nd.
printing 20 years ago. There are so many more full color photos of
recovered artifacts.
We have used Dan Berg's shipwreck book series as "bibles" for all of
our diving off the Jersey Shore over the last 25 years. Looking for
excitement and challenges is hard to do without some sort of expert
guidance. Dan Berg does this in all his books.
Myself and all of my dive buddies have tattered copies of his books
that have been read, re-read and read again 100 times over. Prior to
diving any wreck, it is 1,000 times better when you know the history
and what other divers may have salvaged from the wreck. It makes the
dive so much more exciting.
I recommend this book to ANY scuba diver ANYWHERE in the world that
dives for joy of seeing, exploring and artifact hunting on ship
wrecks old and new.
Thank you Dan Berg
Sincerely,
Jay Jessup
"On behalf of LIDA
and the whole diving community, let me thank you very much for
your continued efforts and contributions to local diving. Your
dedication has been steadfast and the impact has been
immeasurable."
Sincerely,
Adam Altman Secretary - Long Island Divers Association
When I first started shipwreck diving in 1988 my
copy of Dan's "Long Island Shore Diver" was my handbook to
finding all the great shipwrecks that were available by shore
access. Dan's illustrations, photographs and descriptions make
shipwreck diving for a new diver easy and fun. When I got a hold
of Wreck Valley it became my next hand book. Every wreck that
was dived by the great wreck divers was in there. Plus all the
wrecks that only the real wreck divers would spend time to go
after.
We don't sell these books through the TDL
website but feel that Capt. Dan's books are worth being in your
library. In all my years wreck diving I've yet to meet a diver
who has more passion for shipwreck diving AND for sharing his
information as Dan Berg. If I was living back east again he and
I would be diving together on a regular basis. He's a great
diver, a prolific writer, a good friend and I hope you enjoy his
books.
"Your wreck diving
guides have long been considered mandatory reading for local scuba
divers. Your new Wreck Valley III book should be added to the collection of anyone
interested in shipwrecks and wreck diving."
Capt. Steve
Bielenda Eastern Dive Boat Association
"Being
a NE diver for over 40 years and diving many of the wrecks listed
and described in Dan Berg's new Wreck Valley book, I am very happy
to recommend this book to any diver wanting to know what North
East wreck diving is all about. The book is loaded with pics and
includes the history of quite a few popular shipwrecks in the NE
area of the US. Well worth the money and highly recommended.
