AYSRSHIRE
DIRECTIONS: (Seaside Heights, Ocean County)
Note: The Location of this wreck site is presently un-known.
CONDITIONS:
The Scottish Brig Aysrshire foundered off Seaside Heights on January
12, 1850. At the time she was carrying 201 English and Irish
immigrants. When this wreck went up on the beach lifesavers used the
lifesaving gun to haul a line over her. From this line a stronger
rope was hauled to the wreck. This was the first time this type of
equipment was ever used and all passengers and crew were safely
transported to the beach.
To the best of my knowledge, no one is presently diving on this
wreck. With a little research and some exploratory dives the
Aysrshire should not be to difficult to locate.
