CASTLE DEL REY
The Castle Del Rey was a privateer that was sunk during a gale in
1704. According to the book Shipwrecks in the Americas by Robert
Marx she had 18 guns, displaced 130 tons and was under the command
of Captain Otto Van Tyle when she grounded near Sandy Hook. Only 13
out of 145 crew members survived. This may be a
Treasure Wreck but
the wreck has never been found.
