JONES BEACH DRY DOCK
On 5/8/1990 a wood and steel dry dock was sunk on the Jones Beach
artificial reef. The Dry Dock was 122 feet long 100 feet wide and 20
feet high. In addition to the dry dock was 250 cu yards of concrete
rubble loaded onto the old hulks deck.
In 1995 Steve Jonassen and I did a side scan sonar survey of the
wreck for the DEC. We found that the wreck was flatted out but all
of her debris was still contained within a relatively small area.
