MEXICO
This Passenger steamer went aground on Long Beach in 1837. She was
carrying immigrants to America. It is thought that these immigrants
would be carrying all of their valuables money and jewelry with
them. The Mexico could be a true
treasure wreck. She lies in very shallow water and is most likely
covered in sand. In 1993 we heard rumors of a group of divers who
had located the wreck. They worked the site over the winter and were
very secretive.
