PATRICE MCALLISTER

This 94 foot steel hulled tug boat was built in 1919 at Johnson Iron Works and was owned by McAllister Brothers Inc. She had at least three previous names including M& T Tracy, Major Frazer and Degrey.

On October 4, 1976,the Patrice McAllister was in tow by the Judith McAllister. They were en route from Camden, New Jersey, to Jersey City, where the Patrice would undergo a much needed engine overhaul. Unfortunately, they would never make it to port. The wind picked up and the sea became too rough for the Patrice to handle. She slipped beneath the waves. John Bedon, captain of the Judith McAllister, was still attached to the wreck by his towing line. He stayed directly over her until the Coast Guard was able to buoy the location.

Today, the Patrice Mcallister is sitting upright and intact in 55 feet of water. She makes an excellent intact wreck for divers to explore and enjoy.
