HOLGATE JETTY New Jersey Beach Diving Guide
for scuba divers.
The complete scuba divers
beach diving guide to New Jersey's shipwrecks, jetties and inlets
complete with driving directions.
HOLGATE JETTY
DIRECTIONS:
(Holgate, Ocean County) Take the Garden
State Parkway to Exit 63, Rt. 72. Stay on Rt. 72 over the bridge,
then turn right on Long Beach Blvd. Drive south into Holgate.
CONDITIONS:
Most the
jetties along Long Beach Island or for that matter the New Jersey
coast are productive for divers who want to hunt for lobsters and
crabs or for spear fisherman
looking for black fish. The
Holgate Jetty is
the largest of these jetties on Long Beach
Island and therefore provides area divers better opportunities to
bring home dinner. According to diver Cathie Cush, the Holgate
Jetty is constructed of large cement blocks and rocks. The
jetty is longer than it appears on the surface and as you move
away from the beach the structure becomes submerged.
