DIRECTIONS:
(Northville, Suffolk County)
Take the Long
Island Expressway east to Exit 73, Old Country Road. Drive
east
through the traffic circle, and make a left on Northville Turnpike.
Drive north to the end, and turn right on Sound Road. Turn left on
Pier Avenue and
drive north for .8 miles. Parking is posted, "By
Permit Only".
CONDITIONS:
Located on the
north shore,
Like Landing
is a nice area to
explore. The shallow
water allows
divers time to enjoy the underwater environment while slowly
swimming
down the beach. There are some large rocks offshore where the
amount of
marine life is highly concentrated. These are definitely worth a
visit.
I'm told that a
little further east there are two small jetties that once had a pier
between them. These jetties sound like a good place for exploration,
but are
definitely too far to swim or walk to. Other parking
would have to be found a
little closer.
