divers and fisherman.
AZUA
The Azua wa a 171foot 4 masted schooner. She was built in 1918 by
Cartaret Feery Corp in Staten Island. On May 14, 1930 while en route
from New York to Bermuda with a cargo of coal the Azua collided with
the City of Atlantic. Three of her crew were lost in the night time
accident.
The wreck was located sitting in 130 feet of water and wire dragged
clear so as not to be a hazard to navigation. This wreck to date has
not been located. It is possible however that she is one of the many
unidentified sights that divers enjoy off New Jersey. This is a
great NJ Fishing
wreck.
