The Halcyon Shipwreck  New York and New Jersey's (Wreck Valley)
Historical and current New York and New Jersey Shipwreck Information and images for scuba divers and fisherman.

The Halcyon went down in a hurricane in 1695. The ship was trying to get into Jones Inlet at the time. Some sources report that this vessel was actually a pirate or privateer. They say she was carrying the loot taken from three French vessels when she went down. This treasure wreck has never been located although years ago a fishing boat anchored in Jones Inlet pulled up its anchor and stuck in the mud on one of its flutes was a gold coin.
