REGGIE
The Reggie is rumored to be the remains of a barge. The wreck is
located in 105 feet of water off Fire Island and is one of the best
lobster wrecks in the area. I have only had the pleasure of visiting
this wreck about four times. In my opinion the story about this
wreck being a barge is inaccurate. She definitely needs more
extensive exploration.
The Reggie's steel hulled pointed bow is lying upside down.
Everything behind her bow is scattered in a low lying debris field.
On my dive trips to the wreck, I have not seen any sign of machinery
or rigging, but have located a capstan buried under her bow. The
Reggie is one of Capt. Dan Berg's Triangle Wrecks. This wreck the
Kenosha and the
Dodger all rest within a short
distance of each other and are all good for
lobster hunting and
spearfishing.
