SPARTAN (NJ)
The Spartan was an 85foot by 24 foot canal tugboat. She was built in
Chicago in 1957 and was sunk as a fish haven on January 31, 1986.
According to Herb Segars, a noted underwater photographer, her
remains are sitting perfectly upright in 70 feet of water, three
miles off Manasquan Inlet. Herb goes on to say that mussels and
anemones are abundant and the visibility is usually excellent.
