WASH-OUT BARGE
This wreck is the remains of a steel barge which sits in 115 feet of
water off Long Island's South Shore. According to diver Jim
Fazzolare this barge actually sunk beneath the sand so that the top
deck is now level with the surrounding sand. Boat captains will have
a hard time finding this wreck, in fact they have to look for a wash
out on the sea bed. Jim reports that divers can enter the barge from
underneath and once inside will find lobsters hanging from the
ceiling. Please note that penetration inside any shipwreck should
only be done by those with the proper training and experience. In
1995 divers reported that much of this barge has now collapsed.
