THUMPER
The Thumper was a wood crane barge. She was 40 feet long with a 20
foot beam. On December 8, 1985while under tow, en-route from RI to
Westbrook CT the Thumper started to leak. She quickly started to
lean then sunk like a rock. She left two crew floating in the near
freezing water. Both were rescued and treated for exposure.
Today the wreck of the thumper can be found in 80 feet of water in
Fishers Island Sound.
